Emotion 4 EVS Mentors

Between the 9th and the 17th of February 2015, together with 25 participants from Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain, we took part in a special training course which helped us develop our emotional competence in order to improve our work as mentors for local and international EVS volunteers.

The training, which took part in Caravaca de la Cruz, Spain, is part of a broader concept created in 2010 by a group of trainers active on teh international level, who aim at developing the emotional competence of youth workers. Emotion 4 EVS mentors is the fifth edition having as objectives to develop emotional competence (development of listening skills, communication, assertiveness and especially empathy) and the mentors’ ability to support european volunteers during mentoring sessions.

At the end of the training the participants created a set of recommendations on EVS mentoring and Emotional Competence  answering a set of challenges that mentors face during this process (questions in the picture bellow, recommendations and more about the project here).
